The system uses two types of information to determine when the library is open:
Both types of closed dates have effects on due dates and fines:
This opens a box where you can enter your closing information
Library: Your library will be selected. If your library has branches and they are all going to closed, check the Apply to all my libraries option.
Closing Type: Choose the Closing type. The options are One Full Day, Multiple Days or Detailed (includes hours.)
Date: Use the date picker to select the Date (or dates or dates and hours)
Reason: Enter the reason for the closing, for example Memorial Day or Snow Day
Emergency Closing The system will prompt you to treat a closing as an Emergency closing if the date is in the past or is earlier than the end of the longest configured circulation period. The “emergency” is that some items are due on days that you will be closed.
In these circumstances, you must check the Emergency option and also the option to Process Immediately. This will cause the system to update due dates for all items due on dates the library is closed. It will also adjust the hold shelf expiration dates to not count the closed days.
It may take a few minutes to complete processing the data. When it's completed, you'll see the number of items that have been updated.
To edit or delete a closing date, go to the Closed Dates Editor, select the closing date from the list, and choose Edit closing or Delete closing from the Actions menu. If it's an Emergency Closing, be sure to check the option to Process Immediately.
