Internet Policy
The North Of Boston Library Exchange (NOBLE) provides Internet access to member libraries for the use of their staff and patrons. As an interconnected network of networks, the Internet offers an unsurpassed collection of materials from millions of sources across the globe. These files provide access to information and ideas which often are not otherwise available.
However, users should note the following:
- While much of the information on the Internet is of great value to researchers, there is also material which may be offensive or disturbing to some individuals and may not be appropriate for certain age groups. There may also be material that is illegal. However, in accordance with the American Library Association’s Library Bill of Rights and Access to Electronic Information Services and Networks, NOBLE does not control, limit or monitor Internet use. Rather, individuals, and the parents or guardians of children, are responsible for the files accessed through NOBLE’s Internet connection.
- The use of Internet access through NOBLE for illegal purposes or to transmit threatening, obscene, or harassing materials is strictly prohibited.
- NOBLE does not provide e-mail accounts to the public.
